V8 Engine Block Coffee Table $450.00

No styrofoam forms here at Auto Grotto. We deal with authentic car parts made from real metal and recycle them into your home. We have sold quite a few of these tables made from various parts such as Cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, aluminium block for a wine rack as well as crankshaft lamps etc. etc. etc.

If you are one on those "true car people" that will only accept authentic items then our lastest offering of a coffee table with the most famous block of all time should interest you. It is the holy grail of engines...the small block Chevy!

As far as i know, the block is a 350 from a caprice/roadmaster, L05 code, so its iron and heavy as all get out. No longer suitable as an engine it has been made into a table. I put fine chicken-wire in the crankcase so that the bores can be used to hold remotes and such. Bare block (no crank) only but i used some connecting rods to raise the glass above the block.

The glass is 28" x 34" un-tempered plate glass with a small chamfer on all edges. its currently sitting on a poplar base that is very loosely bolted together. I found that it was better to bolt the base loosely together, just so if it gets pushed around, its got some give to the whole assembly. Its about 200 lbs including the glass.

It's a little worse for wear with a small chip in the glass at the corner and the wood base that supports the block is slightly worn from moving it around. There is no lighting on it (easily done) and everything is fit loosely together. The connecting rods bolts are slip-fit into the bolt holes on the deck, so that they can come out and make it easier to lift and move the block.

Pressure-washed and painted to look like a fresh casting, then took an abrasive pad to all the machined surfaces so that they are nice and shiny. Clearcoated after that to inhibit rust.

We will deliver it within the Toronto area for a very reasonable fee.
